Audrey Tautou collects photos of journalists

‘Da Vinci Code’ star Audrey Tautou has an unusual hobby of collecting photos of every person who has interviewed her.
The French actress regularly takes pictures of journalists she speaks with so she doesn’t forget them, and hopes one day to incorporate the snaps into a project, reported New York Daily News.
The actress likes to believe that it is not a waste of time spending short moments with so many people and prefers to hold on to thwem in the form of pictures.
“I haven’t done anything with the photos yet. I just keep them. But it’s just because I have met so many people for very short moments and all these moments for me disappear into the air. I find it a bit unreal. So I wanted to keep something concrete to make sure I was not wasting my time,” said Tautou. Read more… »

Audrey Tautou’s cosmetic habits

Audrey Tautou prefers reading to cosmetic surgery.
The ‘Coco Before Chanel’ actress has no intention of going under the knife, maintaining she is happy to grow old gracefully.
She said: “I’d rather read a book than get Botox.”
The 33-year-old actress refuses to call herself a natural beauty, but admits she is too lazy to become obsessed with her appearance.
She explained: “I don’t think of myself as a beautiful! But I think you feel beautiful when you accept yourself exactly as you are, imperfections and all.
“Being a bit of a tomboy, I do my own make-up really quickly and don’t obsess over products. I only use body lotion about once a year. I’m terrible!”
Despite her relaxed attitude towards cosmetics, Audrey – who is the spokeswoman for Chanel no. 5 fragrance – can’t leave her house unless she has spritzed on some scent.
She revealed to Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “Perfume means much more than make-up or clothes. You wear perfume like a secret that you only share with someone you get close to, like a kiss. I love being enveloped in scent.
“I couldn’t love a man who doesn’t love Chanel No. 5! It would be hopeless.”

Coco Chanel was a liar, says Audrey Tautou

French actress Audrey Tautou has launched a vicious attack on her country’s greatest female fashion icon – calling Coco Chanel “a liar”.
Tautou, who plays Chanel in a new biopic, included collaboration with the Nazis and rumoured anti-Semitism among the designer’s moral failings.
The designer has been accused of collaboration with the Nazis during the Second World War when she lived at the Paris Ritz hotel with a German lover.
Chanel was also notoriously anti-Jewish and disliked homosexuals.
“She was a liar, so it’s difficult to know who she was before she became famous and had some success,” Tautou told Sky News in an interview. Read more… »

ANNE FONTAINE - FONTAINE: ‘TAUTOU WAS THE ONLY ONE FOR ME’

Director ANNE FONTAINE was so desperate to get AUDREY TAUTOU to play fashion icon COCO CHANEL in her upcoming movie, she threatened to quit if the French star refused.
Tautou takes the title role in forthcoming biopic Coco avant Chanel, which details the legendary designer’s rise to the top of the fashion world.
And Fontaine was so convinced Tautou was perfect for the part, she told the actress she would walk away from the film unless Tautou signed up.
Fontaine says, “It couldn’t be another French actress for me. It was so obvious, as she was so close physically. In the pictures, sometimes, it’s incredible. She’s so thin and fragile, but also strong in her personality. I couldn’t imagine it as anybody else.
“Many could play the part, but you have to be different… She has to be really special, and Audrey is very special, with these two big eyes and this little boy body. I had the conviction when I saw her that she was the reincarnation of a young Chanel.”

Audrey Tautou in Istanbul for Chanel

One of the world’s most prestigious perfumes, Chanel No. 5, has chosen Audrey Tautou to replace Nicole Kidman as its new face and Istanbul as the location of the advertising film.
The 20-minute film, which was prepared in four months, was released online on May 5. A 45-second version of the film will also be broadcast on television.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the director of “Amelie,” the film that made Tautou famous, shot the advertisement. Jeunet and his team, stayed for three weeks in Istanbul last May to shoot the footage. “This is not an advertising film but a short film,” Jeunet said.
It is reported that the film cost $23 million-$25 million.
$2.5 million to Tautou
In the film, Tautou departs from Venice and comes to Istanbul by Orient Express. A young man, played by model Travis Davenport, falls in love with the woman because of her perfume. The two find each other in Istanbul again thanks to the perfume. The film does not include any dialogue. The Haydarpa?a train station, the Bosphorus, the Bosphorus Bridge and boats are seen in the film.
Tautou also visits the Egyptian Bazaar in the film. It is not yet known how much money Tautou was paid for the film, but Kidman, the previous face of the perfume, received $3.71 million. It is reported that Tautou received at least $2.5 million for the film.

Audrey Tautou’s Smoking Chanel Ad Banned in Paris

0000000000000000000tautou350x226A film poster depicting Audrey Tautou as a cigarette-smoking Coco Chanel has left advertising watchdogs in France fuming — it has been banned throughout the Parisian transport system.
The French actress stars as the iconic couturier, who died aged 87 in 1971, in a biopic entitled “Coco avant Chanel.”
And to advertise the film’s release, posters were placed on bus and train advertising boards throughout the French capital.
The image shows Tautou laid on a bed holding a cigarette, a 50-a-day habit for which the real Chanel was famous.
But the transportation authority and the country’s Health Minister Claude Evin have slammed the ad, branding it “unhealthy and inappropriate” following France’s decision to enforce a smoking ban in public places.
The poster has been swapped by unhappy film bosses, who insist the image depicts the true essence of France’s first daughter of fashion.
A rep for Warner France, the film’s studio, says, “For us, the real poster is where Coco Chanel is smoking in a natural pose that translates her strong personality and her modernity.”

Audrey Tautou’s Very Chanel Premiere

Audrey Tautou took to the red carpet for the premiere of Coco Avant Chanel looking every inch the Chanel girl in a dress from the label’s haute couture SS09 collection.

Well let’s face it she wasn’t going to wear any other designer was she!?

Audrey went for this white strapless dress (below) with romantic black rose print. She, sensibly, decided to leave the floral headpiece at home though!

The floral print and ruffle detail hem and collar give the dress a real feminine feel so the actress toughened the look up with a black leather jacket by, who else, Chanel, and black strappy Sergio Rossi heels.

We love the structured detail of the skirt and the random scattering of flowers, it looks much better than organised prints.

Audrey told Grazia she was honoured to be involved in the film, based on the life of designer Coco Chanel, and she had a lot of fun making it.
